Under 13 - Performance Pathway

The U13 Academy is the first step on the England Pathway. As a County Netball Association we manage and deliver U13 Academies on behalf of England Netball, delivering about 15 sessions per year.

Qualified and experienced Level 2 coaches will deliver the training programmes set by England Netball. The emphasis in the U13 Academy is for young netballers to learn how to train on their own, and to understand, experience and practice some of the different components required in a training programme.

2025/26 Screening / Trials 

We are pleased to confirm the details for the screening Trials process for the 2025/26 South Yorkshire County Performance Pathway Programme

First Screening/Trial Dates:
Day 1 - Sunday 22nd June - 9am - 1.00pm
Day 2 - Saturday 12th July - 2.00 - 5.00pm

Athletes will be required to attend both dates. 

Venue: English Institute of Sport, Sheffield

Second Screening / Trial Date: If the athlete is successful on their first trial/screening, they will be invited to a second trial which will take place on 

Saturday 6th September between 1.00 - 5.00pm 

Venue: Ponds Forge Sports Centre, Sheffield

Please note: To attend, athletes MUST have a nomination from a coach/teacher which has to be given on the form, along with a contact email address of the coach/teacher supporting the application which will be checked before an invitation to trial is sent. Athletes must also be competing at club level and be affiliated to South Yorkshire from September.


Attending Screening/Trials

There are two (2) ways an athletes is able to be nominated to attend screening/trials

⏺ Coach (Level 2) from your EN Member Club
⏺ School Teacher

If you haven't been nominated to attend the screening/trial process by either of the above, please do not complete the registration form, instead please speak to the teach/coach from your school or club.

Please note: Unfortunately due to the large number of athletes trialling, we are unable to give specific feedback to any athlete.

Each athlete will be selected based on what we as selectors see on the day. Athletes that have already been in the programme, are not guaranteed a place for this next year.

2025/26 Programme 

Dates: Our under 13 Academy is held on Fridays, starting mid September and will run in blocks linked to school terms

Venue: We are still working with our venues provider, but at this stage we are planning the academy running out of Ponds Forge, Sheffield City Centre or English Institute of Sport, Sheffield
